A Seminar on “Indonesian New Mining Law”

The enactment of Law No. 4/2009 on Coal and Mineral Mining (“New Mining Law”) brings several changes to the fundamental practice of the mining business activity in Indonesia. Having had handle numerous mining investment in Indonesia, SURIA NATAADMADJA & ASSOCIATES (SNA) together with its associated Shanghai base law firm, HILIGHTS LAW OFFICE had successfully organized a one day seminar on April, 18th 2009 at the Shanghai Bar Association, P.R.C. concerning "Indonesian New Mining Law". As the topic indicates, this seminar was intended to introduce Indonesian New Mining Law and its policy to the Chinese Investor from mining companies in China having mining business activity in Indonesia. The seminar managed to gather more than 30 participants from different backgrounds from lawyers, in-house lawyers of Chinese mining companies among others Tsingshan Holding Group Shanghai International Trading Co., Ltd, Shaanxi Energy Metals & Minerals Resources Co., Ltd, China Tianjin International Economic & Technical Cooperation Group Corporation.

To open the seminar, Mr. Suria Nataadmadja presented comprehensive explanation of the New Mining Law, including policies and prediction of the upcoming regulation. The second session of the seminar was delivered by Ms. Selviyani, on Indonesian Investment and Company Law. Finally, the seminar had set the forth a clear understanding of the mining policy in particular, and the changes occurred in the surrounding field by the enactment of the New Mining Law. In contribution to the socialization of the New Mining Law, our firm provides the Mandarin translation as well as English translation of the New Mining Law to all seminar participants as complimentary.
